Onam Festival falls during the Malayalam month of Chingam (August - September). It is the biggest festival celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by people of all communities in Kerala. It commemorates the subsequent homecoming of the legendary Emperor Mahabali. Onam is reminiscent of Kerala’s agrarian past, and is considered to be a harvest festival.

Onam was celebrated at ASADI on August 6th amidst much fanfare involving all the students, faculty and staff. The celebrations started with setting up pookkalams.Then there was a rally comprising of students, Tiger clad men with hunters behind them, all welcoming Mahabali from the Gate to the campus.  This was followed by various competitions like onappattu, thiruvathira kali, vadamvali, uriyadi and so on.
